For Labels

There's a trust issue with music and AI.
We're the humans helping fix it.

Musical Form Institute is an independent third-party certification body for recorded music. We publish process-based standards and certify the recordings that meet them.

What we do, in two sentences

MFI operates two certification marks for recorded music. One verifies recordings produced without generative AI; the other verifies recordings produced without grid correction, pitch correction, or generative AI.

What you hear took lifetimes. We make that work visible.

Why this matters

Labels and platforms need a reliable way to know how a recording was actually made. Listeners do too. MFI is building the independent verification layer between the people who make music and the people who distribute it. The public registry is the first piece: a place DSPs, labels, and licensees can point to when they need an auditable answer to a question the industry has been quietly working around.

Two certification marks. One trust layer.

Certification Mark 1

Certified Significant Form (CSF)

Verifies that a sound recording was produced without generative AI. Every certified recording is listed in the public CSF registry so labels, DSPs, and licensees have an auditable record to reference.

Certification Mark 2

Certificate of Embodied Production (CEP)

A process-based standard that verifies a recording was produced without grid correction, pitch correction, or generative AI. The complete certification for recordings where production decisions were made by human beings in real time, with every entry listed in the public CEP registry.

Both registries are live.

The CSF public registry and the CEP public registry are both live and accepting submissions from labels of any size. Every entry can be audited against its published standard.

Open to any qualifying applicant under the published standards.
No submission fees during the public beta period. Same terms for everyone.
Certified recordings become part of a queryable public record.
